typhoon survivors

Friend asked me to house-sit while she was off island. Was glad to help, especially for the opportunity to live in a nice house right on the seashore here on this beautiful island of Rota.

Two months and one category 5 super typhoon later, Toku and I returned to our own place, south island under Wedding Cake Mountain.

Thank the Lord, my friend's house or car weren't damaged. Lots of water to mop up (was glad to get some exercise). Her backyard seashore lost two big iron trees and quite a few coconut palm trees, along with all vegetation. The back one-third of her beautifully manicured grass lawn, was turned into a lovely white sandy beach. The typhoon gave her quite a nice landscaping job there.

When Toku and I returned to our own home, we underwent a period of adjustment. Now, more than two weeks after Super Typhoon Sinlaku, we are beginning to feel at home again. Prayers are still going out for the many on Saipan and Tinian who still have no water or power - many even lost their homes. Thank the Lord for many people in Micronesia and the States (military, government, and private organizations, as well as generous individuals) who have unselfishly come to our aid in time of urgent need.

Toku's feeling at home

Our beautiful island, Rota, got off pretty easy from the typhoon (as did Guam) - thank you, Jesus! Our islands of Saipan and Tinian got Sinlaku's very worst. But, praise the Lord, not one person lost their life.

At the place Toku and I live, there were many changes but nothing catastrophic. Decided to check out the survivors.

oregano and alovera

un-named flowers

lemon grass

4-year old avocado tree

4-month old moranga tree

two big mango trees

swamp spinach guppies

Take-away: The same Son of God, Jesus Christ, who calmed the storm and walked on water, wants to answer any of our prayers concerneing typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes, rough seas, rain, eartquakes, etc. Jesus said if we have faith we can move mountains. If we trust and believe that God can divert typhoons, he will and he does. Nothing is impossible with God, but he wants us to ask him in prayer, and seek him.

It's not about our prayers, it's about Jesus, and obedience to what he said, "Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find." Because it's all about Him, of course we thank and praise him for his answers. Some answers come right away, some take time, some even take decades - we get all our answers at exactly the right time, God's time.

Hope you enjoyed this post. You are always welcome to visit.

Today is the day of salvation. Now is the best time to give your life to Jesus Christ and believe in him with all your heart. Repent and turn to God - he forgives you for everything and will give you a new life, one beyond your wildest imaginations. Don't wait, it's time to start a new life with Jesus.
