jupiter & venus

 from my roof

In the first part of June this year, Jupiter and Venus appear in the western sky only at sunset. Think they appear closer and closer together day by day.

Was told that even with a weak telescope, or binoculars, we can see the moons around Jupiter. Have neither so can't check this out.

typhoon survivors

Friend asked me to house-sit while she was off island. Was glad to help, especially for the opportunity to live in a nice house right on the seashore here on this beautiful island of Rota.

Two months and one category 5 super typhoon later, Toku and I returned to our own place, south island under Wedding Cake Mountain.

Thank the Lord, my friend's house or car weren't damaged. Lots of water to mop up (was glad to get some exercise). Her backyard seashore lost two big iron trees and quite a few coconut palm trees, along with all vegetation. The back one-third of her beautifully manicured grass lawn, was turned into a lovely white sandy beach. The typhoon gave her quite a nice landscaping job there.

When Toku and I returned to our own home, we underwent a period of adjustment. Now, more than two weeks after Super Typhoon Sinlaku, we are beginning to feel at home again. Prayers are still going out for the many on Saipan and Tinian who still have no water or power - many even lost their homes. Thank the Lord for many people in Micronesia and the States (military, government, and private organizations, as well as generous individuals) who have unselfishly come to our aid in time of urgent need.

Toku's feeling at home

Our beautiful island, Rota, got off pretty easy from the typhoon (as did Guam) - thank you, Jesus! Our islands of Saipan and Tinian got Sinlaku's very worst. But, praise the Lord, not one person lost their life.

At the place Toku and I live, there were many changes but nothing catastrophic. Decided to check out the survivors.

oregano and alovera

un-named flowers

lemon grass

4-year old avocado tree

4-month old moranga tree

two big mango trees

lots of banana trees

swamp spinach guppies

Take-away: The same Son of God, Jesus Christ, who calmed the storm and walked on water, wants to answer any of our prayers concerneing typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes, rough seas, rain, eartquakes, etc. Jesus said if we have faith we can move mountains. If we trust and believe that God can divert typhoons, he will and he does. Nothing is impossible with God, but he wants us to ask him in prayer, and seek him.

It's not about our prayers, it's about Jesus, and obedience to what he said, "Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find." Because it's all about Him, of course we thank and praise him for his answers. Some answers come right away, some take time, some even take decades - we get all our answers at exactly the right time, God's time.

Hope you enjoyed this post. You are always welcome to visit.

Today is the day of salvation. Now is the best time to give your life to Jesus Christ and believe in him with all your heart. Repent and turn to God - he forgives you for everything and will give you a new life, one beyond your wildest imaginations. Don't wait, it's time to start a new life with Jesus.

thank God

 behind my place

So glad we got off so easy with that last super typhoon, Sinlaku.

Thank you, Jesus!!!

Hope you enjoyed this post. Jesus Christ is coming back really soon. There's still time to give your life to him. Believe in him and don't look back. He has a new life for you!

sinlaku

Eight years ago was at the airport on the island of Rota in the Mariana Islands. We stood in a circle, holding hands, praying for our good sister, who was leaving the island to return to the States to take care of her aging mother.

Just as we finished praying, completely out of the blue, a thought entered my mind, "Eight years from now, a super typhoon will hit Rota."

From previous experiences, it was most certainly the Lord talking to me - as clear as ever before. Never thought it unusual or strange that God would do this - "My sheep know my voice." It wasn't a sign of super spirituality or some miraculous holy validation from on high, just the heavenly Abba Father talking to one of his children. No big deal.

So, for the past eight years, have often reflected on what was told me that day. Now, that day is here. Already experienced two super typhoons living in the Mariana Islands these past eleven years - both were life changing experiences.

They are already saying this super typhoon, Sinlaku, is even worse than the previous two. Category 5 is the highest designation for any typhoon. Perhaps Sinlaku will be the first ever Category 6.

The question remains, "Why did God tell me about this typhoon?" Honestly I don't really know. If my dog Toku, and I get through this typhoon unscathed, hopefully the answer will become evident. So anxious to find out what's being communicated through all this.

God is so merciful and kind, and has no desire or pleasure in all the destruction or in anyone dieing. His ways and thoughts are far above ours, and his mercy towards us is greater than the sky is above.

There are other super typhoons reeking havock across the planet (metaphorically speaking) - much damage and lives lost,  daily.

It's time to talk with God, and also to hear our Good Shepherd's voice.

Jeremiah 49:34-39
New King James Version

34 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

35 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, The foremost of their might.

36 Against Elam I will bring the four winds From the four quarters of heaven, And scatter them toward all those winds; There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go.

37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies and before those who seek their life. I will bring disaster upon them, My fierce anger,’ says the Lord; ‘And I will send the sword after them Until I have consumed them.

38 I will set My throne in Elam,
And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.

39 ‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days: I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.”

toku

Took Toku for a walk today...another beautiful day on Rota!
