rota - guata beach

A few weeks ago at the church I'm attending (Rota Christian Assembly), our pastor encouraged us to bring the church to the people.

Was a little concerned - if I go door to door here...too many dogs.

Really love how God speaks to us.  Out of the blue He drops something in my heart - "Make a poster and flash people from the side of the road as they drive by."

That got the questions going - What, how, where and when, Lord?

Had to order poster paint and brushes on line, which took a couple of weeks to get here. Scrounged up some cardboard, tape, and styrofoam backing. Wanted to make the poster big enough so drivers could easily read it.

Everything became pretty clear - Flash the poster at cars coming and going; stand on the west side of the road at Guata Beach; and, do it every other Friday afternooon, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

So, yesterday was my 2nd time. The 1st time, counted about 200 cars or trucks, with lots of horn honking and waving in response, which was quite surprising. Yesterday was even better - about the same amount of traffic with a few added school buses, and two cars pulled over to visit (a missionary friend, and a young boy and girl who, wanted to get a picture). One driver slowed his car down and read it to me out loud, "Jesus Loves You."

It wasn't my idea - give God all the credit. Besides, we do a lot of stuff like this on Rota, standing on the side of the road and waving at people to promote an event or special day. In the CNMI, everyone knows about the Rota Wave. It's a common custom for us to wave at anyone we pass on the road.

Please don't think it's strange that God talks to people. All through the Bible, Old Testament and New, are instances of Him talking to His people or servants. Even Jesus Christ said, "My sheep know my voice."

Hope you enjoyed the post. Have a good day.
